Mortgage Loan Originator

Position Summary

The Mortgage Loan Originator will be building and strengthening realtor relationships and meeting borrowers’ needs. The position will be responsible for evaluating a loan applicant’s eligibility for a mortgage approval. In addition, this individual will be actively involved in supporting and enriching our community through community involvement efforts. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Generate mortgage lending activity through relationships with realtors, referrals and prospective borrowers.
  • Gather all initial loan application documentation from the applicant that is required for a loan to be processed.
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of loan products and features to promote appropriate products to clients.
  • Interviews and advises loan applicants of eligibility requirements including membership eligibility, types of mortgage loans, interest rates and closing costs.
  • Stay abreast of policy, regulatory laws, changes, and industry trends in mortgage lending.
  • To effectively meet applicant’s needs and answer their questions.
  • Conducts frequent sales calls to realtor’s offices and other referral sources.
  • Communicate with escrow/title companies, loan originators, and other parties to ensure all conditions and regulatory requirements are met prior to funding. Obtain or request missing conditions.
  • Review signed closing documents to approve the funding of the loan.
  • Prepare for the disbursement of funds as per the terms of the transaction.
  • Actively participate in ongoing efforts to continually improve customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Review funding reports to ensure loans are funded within appropriate timeframes.

This is a full time non-exempt position with hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Some evening hours may be required.

Successful Candidate will have full knowledge of mortgage laws, have strong customer service skills, a self-motivator, have computer proficiency and strong presentation skills. The candidate is required to be registered in the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS).
