Be Alert for Fraudulent Texts & Phone Calls
If you receive a suspicious text, CALL HOMETOWN BANK DIRECTLY, that’s why we are here for you!
In today’s digital age, scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, using deceptive tactics to steal sensitive information from unsuspecting individuals. Recently, we’ve identified a fraudulent text message circulating that closely resembles our legitimate fraud alerts, followed by phone calls from someone pretending to be a Hometown Bank employee. This scam is a growing concern, and we want to ensure that you stay informed and protected.
The scam works like this: you receive a text message that looks like a genuine fraud alert from Hometown Bank, asking you to verify account activity. Shortly after, you get a phone call from someone claiming to be a bank representative, requesting personal information such as your full account number, PIN, or online banking credentials. These are things we would NEVER ask for—and that’s where the danger lies.
It’s important to understand that legitimate bank communications will never ask you to share sensitive information like your PIN, full card number, or account credentials over the phone or via text. If you receive any suspicious message or call, do not engage or share any personal information. Instead, CALL Hometown Bank directly to verify the request.
